The Netherlands is densely populated and geographically low-lying. The country is known for its windmills, clogs, tulips, bicycles and social tolerance. The national language is Dutch and is only spoken in the Netherlands and parts of Belgium.
Although the Netherlands are so small to the surface it has many tings that are typical for the country. Tulip cultivation is familiar to everyone, and windmills. Here one also is expert in channel construction and building unusual houses.
16 million inhabitants live in this small country. Space is limited and has to be divided between towns and villages, industry, agriculture and nature. Housing in the Netherlands may be different from what the students are used to from home.
